Content Description Discusses the printing of certificates of account balances for officers. He writes that the officers wish their certificates to be printed "either with common type or copper plated". Knox agrees with the officers and suggests that the certificates be printed to [copper] plates because it will take less time. Writes that he hopes Peirce will be able to comply and gratify his "own feelings upon the occasion."

Additional Information John Peirce served as Paymaster General and Commissioner of Army Accounts. In accordance with a resolution passed by the Continental Congress on 4 July 1783, Pierce was to settle and adjust any accounts between the United States and the officers and soldiers of the Army.
