My dear husband
I hope that this will find you in good health at night I am still just as (leens = lonely?) I have packed 2 ton/barrels of flour to send with any yacht which will take it in in order to pay yet those 17 lb 15 sh to Kornelis Martense and those 19 lb of Dominee’s if you haven’t sent it then send it from this flour so Dominee will sign those bills of exchange the yacht will now go to Katskil to fetch Vranck Salsberrie’s grain and then he will bring up Flip’s wood at the same time they say there comes (a good deal?) of beavers from Kamedam Albany if I felt better I would send Naetje up with some goods if I thought that she could get some but it is such a miserable/sickly time there is not nearly a house free but that there are ill people in the villages six or 7 died already Mr. Wessels after being ill for 5 days died Wednesday later afternoon and will be buried on Saturday it is the road about which we all must think and for which we must all prepare ourselves the new part of the dam is finished and the old part is outside (?) and the lock in the dam at the cornmill we thought we could strengthen the old dam internally/on the inside but the rains came so heavily that it runs over the dam and we can’t do anything on it Hener is very ill yesterday Babeton came with the sub-sherif and constable with a settlement from the supreme court from N.Y. against the smith and took 4 cows and wagon and 2 horses and the household goods (?) in arrest and wanted 238. take it to Pieter Meesen to sell it but I did not want it to happen that it would be sold in another manoxr the animals are in our meadow and Babbenton has given him 4 days time that he would secure the 19 lb 7 lb 10 for their expenses and then he would get his animals again and I will see to it that we get his animals and his anvil as in one sale till May if he pays it he will have it back again will try to get him to that if at all possible it is amazing that our Robbert did not tell me that then we could have secured ourselves better see to it that you can have the court here that you can subtract (?)/decrease (?) 5 lb and now can have another justice on Tachkanick I think Roelef and Japick and yourself for xthe county do see to it now that you become higher up in the commission I long that we will get our money from the assembly it would help us with this be commended to the Lord with all your children I hope you sent your son Johannes the 4 barrels of flour and hard bread we now have 70 bushes in the ground it is so wet with the rain if xx the weather remains good we will be through with sowing of wheat in the next week I think you could have 3 justices here then Tobyas ten Broek could be one of them it will be better if you establish the court your loving wife Alida Livinghston
