My dear husband
I have received your letters yesterday from up there and pepper and 2 cheeses the money 12 oranges 20 (oysters?) I have received I send you a basket with bottles to put wine in there are everywhere so many ill people that we have’nt got a drop left I hope the Dominee will come here today then I will have him sign the bills of exchange/drafts do see to it that you sell Japick’s horse there is a horse here for Robbert which he can have in the spring I am presently sending you 3 barrels of flour Tam can take along 12 barrels and the kernel then he will be filled up and haven’t got anymore we need a piece (Frisian?) and white cotton a small barrel matches a barrel double nails and 2 oxheads rum will be sufficient for us we still have to sow 10 bushel then we’ll have 104 bushel in the ground we would have done the fence in 2 days there is a leak in the old dam they are all busy now working on that and there is no chance to strengthen the old dam there is too much water I hope that the assembly is now nearly finished Pieter thinks now to arrive in 8 days in order to repair the lumber mill our smith’s anvil is too small it xx has to be bigger I am returning the suitcase with clothes there are also 3 home woven shirts in there for Robbert and his clothes I long to hear if the assembly has approved your bill I hope that God will move their hearts to do us justice and 242. pay us I hear that Colonel Schuyler is there see to it that he puts an end to that house (?) to give that man a transport that you will get your land back when Tames leaves will send 200 bushel for Colonel Inghelsbi e here are 3 bills from Dominee Hagher he said he has given Syerp a bill of 14 lb on you and he has 4 lb from me now I can pay Knelis Martense we need flour nails I thank you for the oysters and oranges your servant and wife Alida Livinghston in the manor of Livinghston September 30, 1717
