My dear husband
I have received your sad letter I hope God will save us from all evxil Tames arrived the 21st and brought the woman/wife along of the shoemaker if she likes it here Tames would go along with her to the (sheds?) to show them to her to see if she likes it she seems to be a very good woman it seems that way she talks as if she needs a bit of help to establish herself I am glad that you are settling with each one see to it that Flip receives that from Reyer that he owes and from Abeels wife for that has been outstanding long enough I have now nothing here it rains every day and the ground is so wet that we can neither harrow or plow I hope the Lord will turn away his wrath from us and give us decent weather so the fields can be tilled the which the Lord will give us here is a letter from daughter Eliesabet Livinghston it seems that she will pay it please press her on it a bit and make her easy concerning the clothes she must think that second xxx hand clothing can not amount to much with this be commended to the Lord greetings to our children tell my brother that he should stop here as he comes by your loving wife Alida Livinghston
