May 24, 1721.

My Dear Husband,

I hope this will find you in better health. A moment ago our yacht arrived, and [we] received your letters and those goods [from] Ghert van Bergh [and] Marten. But [he] wants to have 6 gu.1) a schepel. The people from Claverack are talking similarly. Therefore, send me the lowest price, please; else, I cannot get anything. Our mill is idle. I cannot get anybody who will help drive the grain from Taeghkanick2).
I will send the yacht to get planks. I am sending your cane – I didn’t know whether you still had the cane – and a cap.
I am surprised about Kollens3) – that he refuses that. I think it’s because of envy that he does not want to come – I can’t think of anything else -, so that all expenses will fall upon us then. So then we have to suffer heavily without remedy.
