Content Description | Writes to Governor of Mississippi Poindexter to introduce Rev. Austin Dickinson. In 1819 Dickinson was delegated by the Synod of Tennessee to raise funds to build a theological seminary in Tennessee; he is sure that Poindexter both will give Dickinson aid and will inform him of the best means of promoting support from "the citizens of the state" over which he presides. Jackson became Governor of the Florida Territory in 1821. He was President of the United States from 1829 to 1837. |
