Content Description | Signed by Augustin as a United States Commissioner for the Eastern District of Louisiana. Also signed by Emmanuel Lebreton Deschapelles, who swears an oath of allegiance to the Constitution of the United States following the Civil War. Deschapelles vows to " ... faithfully support all laws and proclamations which have been made during the existing rebellion with reference to the emancipation of slaves." Contains a five cent stamp. Torn along two creases. |
