Additional Information Charles Cook was publisher and editor of the "Danville Democrat". The paper, also known as the "Danville Democrat and Tariff Advocate", was established by Cook in 1840. Cook also published a German paper, "Der Tariff Advokat" during the campaign of 1844. In 1864 "Danville Democrat" was sold to Joel S. Baily .
