Content Description Pensacola Evacuated by Yankees "and their sable comrades". A response to an earlier article, "Heavenly Recognition," appears here. An article written by a woman describes the local flowers. Minutes from the Southern Baptist Convention are printed. An article encourages the support of ministers. An editorial states that slaves have been trained into insubordination and that they should be kept in their place "as an inferior race." Two columns of war news, including reports that Europe will not recognize the Confederacy and that whites are rioting against Negroes in Detroit and other cities.
