Writes, "I yesterday received Advice from the Secretary of War, which Obliges me to retract the permission granted to you to pay a short visit to Philadelphia. The Season requires your Person, and therefore I do not feel myself Authorized to permit your Absence, but must require that you hold yourself in readiness for Command on the 12th Inst." |
