Content Description | Possibly written by Cadogan (First Earl Cadogan) in present day Belgium. Relates "I should be very glad you made all possible haste... for King and [vassels?] going along with Blood to Menin, and Spotswood being sick, I have no body with me..." Requests that the recipient make a plan of Menin, since the plan created by the Prussian captain of dragoons was incorrect. |

Additional Information | Cadogan fought with the Duke of Marlborough, who led English, Dutch, and German troops during the War of Spanish Succession (1701-1714). Marlborough decisively defeated a French army led by the duc de Villeroi at Ramillies in May 1706 and continued through present day Belgium. He was a supporter of the House of Hanover, and was known for his staunch suppression of Jacobite uprisings. |
