Content Description Colonel Carrington writes to Knox from the "High hills of Santee," near the Santee River in South Carolina. Due to the resignation of Colonel Proctor, Colonel Carrington assumes he is to take command of the Fourth Regiment. Has not received orders to that effect, and anxiously awaits direction from Knox or General George Washington (through Nathanael Greene).
