May 7th. 1818 Head Quarters } Division South } Sir, You will send or deliver personally as you may deem most advisable the inclosed talk to Kinnard with instructions to explain the substance to the Chihaw Warriors. - You will proceed thence to Hartford in Georgia & use your endeavours to arrest & deliver over in Irons to the Military authority at Fort Hawkins Capt Wright of the Georgia Militia who has been Guilty of the outrage against the women & Superanuated men of the Chihaw Village. Should wright have left Hartford you will Call upon the Govr. of Georgia to aid you in his arrest - To enable you to execute the above you are authorised to take in company with you the Tenesseeans that went from hence lately & await if you think it necessary the arrival of the Georgians now on march under Majr Porter. You will direct the officer commanding of Fort Hawkins to keep Capt- Wright in close confinement untill the will of the President be known.
