Content Description | Says he bought Joe today for $1440 and is sending the bill of sale (not included). Claims "He seems to be active and willing to do [work] - He is in Gradys Jail, and about 35 years of age." Says he has advertised in the Dispatch "for hire for one month." Seems like he bought Joe and immediately hired him out. Says "I saw Joes wife when he was sold, and [as] well as I can recollect her she is not very comely in apperance. Tho I like if possible to have their wives with them." Says Larry sent him $2000 to buy a woman and children for him. Says he saw Cross today and that he is selling Maria for $3500. Jones says he sold her a few years before for $1000. Says "If this war is ever Ended [fairly], Women and Children are the property to put money in." Says first class men and women will sell for $5000. Address leaf has 2 postmarked Confederate State five cent stamps. |
