| Content Description | Signed on verso by Robert Adair, Inspector General of Military Hospitals. Lorimer writes his own memorial, citing his service to Great Britain. Reports that during the French and Indian War (1754-1763) he served as surgeon's mate of the general hospital, as surgeon of the 31st Regiment of Foot, and as surgeon to the garrison of Belleisle. Cites that in 1765, he was appointed as hospital surgeon in Pensacola, Florida; he left Florida in 1781, when Pensacola was seized by Spain. He then worked in New York, and was appointed as Inspector of Regimental Hospitals in 1783 by Sir Guy Carleton. States "Your Memorialist therefore Prays, that for his long and constant Services in various Climates, and for the losses he sustained by the Capture of West Florida, he may now be permitted to retire upon the Half pay of Ten Shillings per day." Adair states "I am well acquainted with the different stations Mr. Lorimer has served in, as set forth in this Memorial, and that he discharged his Duty with skill and Diligence." |
