Knowles certifies that "General Knox has accounted with me for the sum expressed on the Credit side of this account..." Also contains an attached receipt created by Knowles in Orangetown, New York, 19 August 1780. Knowles acknowledges receipt of a sum from Knox, paid by Captain Samuel Shaw. Knowles's receipt certifies that Knox's account is settled. Attached receipt measures 10.1 x 21.1 cm and includes docket.
