Content Description | Issue describes Adams' s trip from Massachusetts to New York to assume the vice presidency and presidency of the Senate. Describes in detail his trip from Westchester into the city. Contains John Langdon's, president pro tempore of the Senate, speech on Adams assumption of chairmanship of the Senate. Also includes proceedings of House of Representatives (dated incorrectly as April 18, 1788) and a letter from 18 April 1780 by John Adams to a group of Amsterdam gentlemen. Also has articles on European affairs, including: the Dutch situation with Prussia and Spanish succession to King Charles IV after the death of King Charles III in 1788. Issue is has a tear halfway through the fold. |
