| Content Description | References Knox's letter of 2 February. Says that William Bingham will inform Knox of the difficulties in closing the business. Reports that Mr. Sodostrom will deliver Bingham a book on the lottery townships, which Knox should copy. Says the certified papers enclosed in this letter (not included) are for Bingham. Tells Knox of the business topics he mentioned in a letter he sent to Bingham. Goes into detail about the land deal in Maine. Says that he has been in contact with William Tudor as Tudor has a note of his. Heard that the lowest amount Tudor is willing to settle for is $3,000 before 10 March. Encloses a copy of a "high toned" letter Tudor sent to him (see GLC02437.05808). Is not concerned about it as he knows Tudor does not want "this business brought to view." Reports that Samuel Waldo and Samuel Winslow have offered the Waldo patent for $25,000 including the island and $20,000 excluding the islands. Jackson does not think they will sell on any other terms and believes Knox should buy it. Mentions that Isaac Winslow Sr. is dead. He went swimming at night and was found drowned the next day. |
