Transcript	Show/hide Download PDF [draft] West point 8 June 1783 Sir Yesterday the Secretary at War gave me the [instructions] of which the enclosed is a copy - [struck: It will be necessary to have your Excellencys approbation - I know not] I am unable [inserted: at present] to determine [struck: at present] how far it will be practicable to carry his orders into execution with the three years men, as [We] shall have no artificers nor any other assistance but what we shall derrive from them. I will however have the necessary estimates prepared & submitted to your Excellencys Judgement. The Arsenal and Magazines are absolutely necessary to preserve the Ammunition, Arms Carriages & the [strikeout] Atterail belonging to the ordnance, And if they can be performed [by] the three years men, [inserted: at least] three quartrs [sic] of the expence may be save [strikeout]d to the public. I am Sir with the highest Respect Your most Obedt Servant. His Excellency Genel Washington [docket] To His Exy Gen Washington 8 June 1783.
