Transcript	Show/hide Download PDF [draft] New York 29 Octr 1787 My dear sir Mr Hoffman has been informed by Mr Hornblower that he has just received propositions from a company in England who are desirous of executing the project which has been mentioned to you. That therefore it is necessary that some determination should be had on the subject here, in order to enable him to write explicitly to the persons in England. An immediate decision is the more necessary in the opinion of Mr Hornblower as the proposit[text loss] result from previous information given by him to the persons in England among whom are some of his near relations. The affair being thus circumstanced I request that you would be so good as to inform me explicitly of the share that you [2] and your associates would hold on the principle of [executg] the plan at a short day and providg the funds accordgly. Being favorably impressed with respect to the plan, I would be [wary] to engage to furnish my proportion of the funds as it should be wanted for the business although I should be obliged to make considerable sacrifices of property to obtain it. I shall expect your answer as soon as possible- on the outside of your letter write private- I beg you to present my respectful compliments to Mr & Mrs Morris- I am my dear sir Your affectionate humble [svt] Gouverneur Morris Esqr [docket] To Gouverneur Morris 29 Octr 1787
