Transcript	Show/hide Download PDF My Dear Gist I send Mr Thorp an officer of my artificers to Baltimore for Plank, for P[illegible] and since for carriages. [struck: He will inform you of the que] I have taken the liberty to address him [inserted: to] you - as the service is so extremely urgent, and I have no doubt of every exertion in [yr] power. Baltimore is the only place from which it can be procur'd, and if it is there it must be had on any terms. [inserted: even you impress illegible] I [pray] you also with the same earnestness, to obtain four Coils of white rope of 3/2 inches [inserted: circumference [strikeout] of 120 ]. I [inserted: further] have [2] have been disapointed in procuring this [inserted: strikeout] from Philadelphia. I have no doubt considering the importance of these articles that payment may be promis'd for them in the course of two or three months - I am preceeding [struck: with] the troops down [this May] in order to arrange matters in my department - I am my dear Sir Your Affectionate off Pool's Island, kind and humble Sevt 10 Sept. 1781.
