Content Description Writes, "I received your favor respecting any supernumerary ensigns who might [turn?] the Massachusetts & Connecticut lines - I have made enquiry upon the subject, and find that instead of having an excess of Ensigns, each regiment upon an average is deficient, of more than one half of that grade." Adds that he is glad to hear that Hazen's regiment will not be affected by the reduction. He and Mrs. Knox send their compliments to Mrs. Hazen.
