Transcript	Show/hide Download PDF Camp at Phillipsburg 17 Augt 1781 Sir His Excellency the Commander in Chief [struck: having] informed me [inserted: illegible] that he had communicated his intensions to you of a Southern operation and desired that I would make with you the necessary arrangements of ordnance & Stores what were to be provided at Philadelphia, I [inserted: therefore] submit to you sir the enclos'd [inserted: paper as a member of the board of War] as my request, of [struck: stores] ordnance & stores, to be [struck: for] procured at Philadelphia as soon as possible, & such preparations made for the trasportation [sic] of them to the point where they are to be used, as will best answer the intention of the General and the public service. Your perfect knowledge of the design will be sufficient inducement to every exertion, within the power of your honorable board - I have the honor [inserted: to be] with great respect.
