Transcript	Show/hide Download PDF [draft] Westpoint Augt 27 1783. Dear Sirs I received your esteemed favor of the 13 instant informing of one trunk, and one small box of merchandise, [struck: same] sent to your care by my brother. I shall be obliged to you to suffer it to remain in your possession untill we shall come to Boston which I hope will be sometime the latter end of September or the beginning of october. I am sorry that the price of goods are so low at Boston that you will not be able to make an advantageous sale of the consignment my brother made you. I am confident you will do all that can be done upon the occasion. I did not say any thing respecting the [Jewelery], because they appeared [inserted: to be] so unsaleable at Boston, that possibly my brother upon his arrival might think of some other appropriation [struck: of them] which would prevent his losing so much by them. The enemy are making serious demonstrations of evacuating New-York, which they [struck: may] [inserted: will] probably complete previous to the 20th of october, but I beleive not much before. Mrs Knox joins me in presenting [inserted: our earnest] [2] respects to Mrs Sears & Mrs Smith her infant has been unwell but is upon the recovery. She will be much mortified if the ladies shall have gone from Boston previous to her arrival I am Gentlemen with great esteem And affection Your Humble Servant HKnox Messrs Sears & Smith [docket] To Mess.rs Sears and Smith 27 Augt 1783.
