Content Description Knox terminates his financial arrangement with William Green: "After the most mature deliberations I have been able to give the subject... I am obliged to say that it appears too momentous an enterprize for me, to render myself liable for the payment of bonds to such an immense amount as would be required by the state and Mr Duer, conditioned either upon the continuance of your life, or upon the success of your European operations."
