[Draft] Camp Bergen County N. Jersey 19 Novr 1780 I received your favor of the 31st ultimo by the post yesterday. I shall not attempt to tell you how much pleasure your late arrival conferr'd on us, suffice it to say that your sister and myself bid you welcome from the bottoms of our hearts. I have written to you three Letters before this, which I hope you will have received. I am sorry that you seem so little satisfied with your voyage, I am certain that no efforts of yours were wanting to render it more consonant to your wishes - The things you were so kind as to send us, from Amsterdam by Captain Hayden we should have been [2] deprivd of had you not arriv'd, by reason of the [loss] of his papers - we request you to detain them at Boston untill you hear further from me on the subject. The conveyance by Waggons were in common very uncertain - particular care must be taken or we may still lose them It will be necessary that I should see you this Winter, but whether you can best [come] [down] in Winter Quarters or I go to you at Boston since after events must determine at any rate it an interview will be in dispensable. If you should stand in [illegible] will want money, there were some five thousand dollars in the [3] hands of Colonel Sears which you may [have] from him. I shall be glad you would be more particular as to the amount of the goods bought with you and of the [illegible] you may have of them sale, with the advance - Colo Sears will be a good hand to ask advice from in the cause of your mercantile matters - I am my dearest friend with the purest affection your Brother HKnox Mr William Knox
