Content Description | A note that once accompanied the Jeffery family seal containing the history and provenance of the seal. Includes short anecdote about a Mr. Jeffery who was captured in the War of 1812 while wearing the family seal. The British officer in command, who also was named Jeffery, recognized the seal as his own and granted the former his freedom. The seal is housed separately from the note. |
