Her friend, his niece, White House hostess Harriet Lane is upset by the death of her brother James Buchanan Lane. Buchanan was supporting Weaver's education, for he promises to pay promptly the next bill for it that he receives. Written from Wheatland, his home near Lancaster, Pennsylvania. |
