Date 17 May 1769
Author Duane, James (1733-1797))
Recipient Livingston, Robert
Document Type Correspondence
Content Description Duane states that it has come to his attention that James DeLancey proposed a motion that would prohibit the Manor of Livingston from sending a representative to the state legislature, claiming that it violated a previously un-enforced law. Duane expresses his outrage at such an idea and notes that "the Inhabitants of the Manor hold that priviledge by as good a Tenure as any Freeholders of any Country." He states plans to petition against the motion, and assures Robert, Jr. of his support throughout the dispute.
