Content Description | Secretary of State Monroe sends a circular letter to the governor of Kentucky transmitting an act (not included) authorizing the raising of troops and requesting men from Shelby's state. Written a few weeks after the Battle of New Orleans and a few weeks before the United States received notice of the Treaty of Ghent ending the War of 1812. |
