Transcript	Show/hide Richmond June 12. 1801. Dear Sir [inserted in another hand: (Robert R. Livingston)] Mr. Arthur Lee of Norfolk, a member of our Legislature for whom I have an esteem, has requested me to introduce to your acquaintance & civilities the bearer Mr. Poinsithe of So. Carolina, who is I doubt not very deserving of yr. attention. Permit me to avail myself of the opportunity furnished by this young Gentn, to assure you of the high satisfaction I have in yr. appointment to France, and to add my sincere wishes that your mission may prove as [struck: graf] grateful and honorable to yourself, as the auspices under which it is undertaken give you reason to expect it may be. With respect & esteem I am dear Sir sincerely yours Jas. Monroe
