Transcript	Show/hide Glade Spring, Dec. 19th 1852 Dear William, You have ere this time concluded that I am a very irregular correspondent. I ahave been trying to write for some time, but did not have an idea worth transmitting to paper. Do not think I care naught for thee, when I don't write. You and poor Pink occupy my daily and hourly thoughts, my last at night and the first at morn. I often wish I could feel like Job in all his afflictions and say with humble submission, thy will be done O Lord. When all his children were taken from him in a day, He said the Lord gave and the Lord taketh and blessed be his holy name. You wished to know my wishes respecting erecting a tomb over my poor Pink. Do what you think best and right and it will meet my approbation. She has a great many friends gone before her to a better and brighter world and sooner or later we must follow and I sincerely hope we may all have our lamps trimmed and oil ready, so that when the bridegroom cometh we may enter in. I was at the burying of Cousin Minerva Henderson. She died of a consumption, here babe died a few months before her. She left a little son and daughter behind too small toknow the extent of their loss. Pvt. Jimmy Robinson was buried yesterday. W.Q. Weeks died very suddenly. The doctor thinks Mr. Buck Kelly will not live long, He is declining slowly with the consumption. Dear William, you said nothing wrong respecting the responsibilities of parents as I think, there are but few, who discharge all their duties both temperally and spiritually. Thomas received a letter fro Campbell a few days since he was to leave Memphis the first of this month coming [sic] by way of Fayetville, [sic] and expected to be here again right at Christmas. Ferdinand Fulton to price and family have gone to Bastrop, Texas. It is rumored here that Moorehead and family and Billy Williams' wife and child were murdered near Texas by robbers, fifteen in number, and that Williams and his son in law killed seven of them. They went the land route. Judge Latham started last week for T's. Told Tom he would see you. I think differently from you. Taking so much exercise has helped you from taking the fever, exposure often brings it on. I some times think you are sick as we have not
