Additional Information Excerpt: "I have read with much interest in your issue of the 15th. a letter from an Indian on the subject of the apprehended Indian War & giving some account of the workings of the present Indian system so far as it concerned his tribe. This leaves no doubt that a most extensive Indian War is about to break out every where on the Plains & in this view the whole subject of our Indian affairs becomes of the highest interest. I enclose herewith a report which I made to the Six. of War on this whole subject in February last...The enclosed report sets forth the whole system of Indian policy with its evil results so far, & proposed the only modifications likely to be adopted for the present...I would be glad if you can find space to print the report in your paper with such comments as you deem judicious."
