Additional Information Choate was a lawyer and diplomat, serving as President McKinley's ambassador to Great Britain from 1899-1905. Choate twice helped to arouse New York City to defeat Tammany Hall—in 1871, when the Tweed Ring was exposed, and again in 1894. Miller was a lawyer and author.
