Content Description | Written by Captain Smith of the ship "Columbus" to Secretary of the Navy Upshur. Recommends Horace Watson, age 14 and a half, for the office of midshipman. Says his grandfather, Master Watson, played distinguished role in the Revolution, and that his father H. H. Watson was a captain in the army during the War of 1812. |
