Content Description | Envelope has free frank signature of Reuben Eaton Fenton. Writes from Camp Caldwell. Has received more letters from his family and is extremely joyful to know that he has not been forgotten by them. Writes that his family's love and adoration means more to him than anything on Earth does. Spent the day visiting the hospital and has grown fond of a man named Billy, who is great company. Hopes to have Billy up in Jamestown someday. Went on picket duty and returned before noon. Expects to have services to speak at and the Colonel has just been into his room to arrange for them. Apologizes in advance if a man named George decides to go into the Cavalry but hopes that he will never go into it. Hopes that George will not go into the Cavalry for his own sake and set up a company instead. Writes that they all hope the war will not continue. They will most likely spend the winter there though. Hopes to receive 10 days off so he can visit home. |
