Additional Information | Woods was a printer in Newark, New Jersey. Alexander Hamilton was a founder and backer of the Society for Establishing Useful Manufactures established in 1791 as a manufacturer of textiles. It was the first business corporation formed in New Jersey. Operations were suspended briefly in 1796, but continued in various endeavors into the twentieth century at mills in Paterson, New Jersey, and other areas. |
