[Draft] Head Quarters high hills of Santee October 24th 1781 Dear Sir The difficulty of getting any sort of work done in this Country for want of artificers, is so great, that there is far greater reason for the Artillery's having a corps of artificiers with them, than there is to the northward, where artificers may be had with so little difficulty. besides, the artificers belonging to the Quarter Master's Department are very few, and of an indifferent kind.
