Content Description | Postwar sketchbook of scenery along the Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western Railroad. Mostly nature scenes like Scranton Gorge, Seneca Lake in Watkins NY, and Paupack Falls in Hawley, Pennsylvania. One pre-war sketch of Gilmanton, New Hampshire Academy, dated 1857 where Bachelder probably went to school. Some sketches are signed, titled, and dated. Some are unfinished. Pencil with watercolor, gray/black wash or ink. Blank pages at the end. Bound in a purple stamped cloth case style binding. |
