Content Description | The recto is written, though not signed, by Thomas Stone (1743-1787). Also signed by Notley and Henry Maddocke, and W. Stone. Certifies that the Maddockes will pay Thomas and Michael J. Stone 2000 pounds of tobacco by the first of October. Discusses a land claim and states that they will owe 14,000 additional pounds of tobacco if the Notleys keep the land on which it was grown. Docketing on verso reads: “Notley Maddocke Henry Maddocke to T Stone & Michl J Stone // Note”; all but the Maddockes’ names are written in Thomas Stone’s hand. |
