Polk does include reports from the Secretaries of War, State, and the Navy regarding the return of Presidents Antonio Lopéz de Santa Anna and Mariano Paredes y Arrillaga to Mexico. References George Washington's precedent in refusing to comply with an order from Congress regarding correspondence surrounding a treaty with Great Britain. |
