Content Description "From the Advocate of Moral Reform. Resolution passed at the last meeting of the Parent Society Resolved that the licentious principles & practice which form an inherent part of the system of Slavery wherever it exists, warrant this society in expressing their abhorrence of it & sympathy with the female portion of the population who are exposed to its influence; and especially with the million & a quarter in our own land who have no protection for their virtue." Additional Information The Advocate of Moral Reform was an American periodical that campaigned to rescue women who were victims of moral and physical corruption and to reassert woman's centrality to family life. The Advocate was published by the New York Female Moral Reform Society, and Sarah T. Smith Martyn was its editor 1836-1845.
