Contains orders from Washington, describes Cornwallis's defeat and surrender at Yorktown (although this garrison remained on the Hudson), news of the final peace settlement and resulting celebration. Includes copies of correspondence between high ranking officers and foreign diplomats and dignitaries. The book mentions or alludes to many important figures in the Revolution, including D'Estaing, Greene, Robert Howe, Lafayette, Marion, Pickens, Rawdon, Cornwallis, de Grasse, Rochambeau and Lord Stirling.
