Content Description | Shaw relates that three men have asked him to recommend them for the same office (Collector of Customs for Rhode Island). Shaw also knows of a fourth man applying for the position who did not ask for a recommendation. Of the four men, (Colonel Henry Sherburne, Major Lyman, Colonel Peck and Colonel Olney), Shaw gives Colonel Peck the highest recommendation. |
