Content Description | Apologized for any errors present in his last letter, which he had to write quickly. Discussed his desire for a government appointment with Mr. Thomas Robison, "the most respectable Character in this place, with whom I have been upon very friendly Terms." While Robison wanted to help him, he had previously promised to support Mr. Lunt, who is already Collector in the Impost Office, in maintaining his position. Declares that he is on good terms with the most respectable people in the town, and discusses his prospects for appointment and possible competitors. Also discusses his dealings with Mr. [possibly Nathaniel] Fosdick, and his desire to cooperate with him, while he is in office. |
