Content Description | A receipt acknowledging the final payment for land ceded by the Six Nations at the Treaty of Fort Stanwix. With the loss of these lands the Six Nations eventually dispersed: the Mohawk and Cayuga to Canada, the Oneida to Wisconsin, while the Onondaga, Seneca and Tuscarora stayed in upstate New York. |
