Content Description | Published "for gratuitous distribution" by Samuel S. White. Pamphlet is a morale booster as well as a health guide. Page 2 cover has a copy of the poem "Army Hymn" by Oliver Wendell Holmes from the June 1861 Atlantic Monthly. Pages 3-7 has 24 tips on how to stay healthy because "War is an evidence of barbarism, but as it is upon us we must recognize its obligations, and do everything we can to mitigate its dreadful evils and promote the cause of justice and peace." Page 8 has a section of a patriotic speech Henry Clay gave in the Senate during the Compromise of 1850 debates, titled "The Voice of Henry Clay." |
