Content Description Discussing Sherman's order to cut civilian rations and expressing some sympathy for its impact on "secesh women": "it is hard for the authorities to see women starve." Analyzing the upcoming presidential election: "we hope to elect Lincoln again and then the rebs know their cause is gone." And broadly reflecting on the war: "[W]e hope that we will beat them...and that the old Union with all the Stars made brighter by the firey trial we have passed through...."
