Content Description | Comments on Charles' regiments movements. Remarks that a man named Willie Martin has decided not to become Charles' substitute for military service. Discusses their recent hardship, referring to the death of Colcock's daughter Emmeline earlier that month of typhoid fever, and quotes religious passages. Writes fondly of Emmeline. Gives family news. Mentions that Thomas F. Drayton was promoted to brigadier general, and that they are attempting to get Willie (William F. Colcock, Jr.) onto Drayton's staff. Hutson was Emmeline's fiancé and served as a Corporal in the 1st South Carolina Infantry during the Civil War.
