Transcript	Show/hide Dear Misses Loring, It was very good of you to remember that we returned to Beverly today and to greet our coming with beautiful flowers. We all had a delightful trip on the Mayflower. Of course my swollen ankle interfered much with my locomotion and some with my comfort but every thing was as well as we could expect. We had an interesting day at New-London and Groton and celebrated the 131st anniversary of the Battle of Fort Griswold inside the old fort itself. I am now here contisiously until Sept 23rd and then after a day's to Washington until Oct. 15th. Indeed I hope my vacation is about to begin. In that time I hope I hope we all may be neighborly.
